Very knowledgeable and capable mechanics. They do a thorough job and charge a fair price for their work. They will continue to get my business. Shadetree's gets my recommendation!
I took a 2005 F150 here a few months ago, and it was a terrible experience. The check engine light was on, and the motor would sometimes cut out. They had it 2 days and then called to tell me it was ready. I paid a little over 400 dollars, drove about half a mile, and the motor cut out again and the check engine light came back on. I turned around and took it back to the shop as they were closing. I left it with them again and took a cab home. They called again the next afternoon to tell me it was ready. I picked it back up, got to almost the same spot down the road, and the light came back on. So I took it back and left it with them for the third time. They called again the next day to tell me it was ready, and when I picked it up, the driver's side window wouldn't roll up. I went back in, and asked what had happened. They insisted it wasn't their fault, yet remind you it was working fine when I dropped it off. The owner ordered a new regulator to fix the window, and it came in the following day. They charged me for the part but offered to repair it at no labor cost. After waiting for a couple hours, I left in the truck again. Again, the motor cut out, and the light came right back on. I ended up taking it to Junior's Garage, and the problem was fixed the first time for under 200 dollars. Not only did I pay Shade Trees Automotive over 400 dollars to NEVER FIX THE ISSUE, but I ended up being out another 100 for the window that suspiciously stopped working while it was at their shop. I wouldn't take a hot wheels car here.
Fast Service. Low price
I am a mechanic/inventor/genius (modest too). My parents do not like to "bother me" when their car breaks down, to my dismay. They had an intermittent hard start on their car (1998 Lincoln Continental). Dad took it to Shade Tree (called "Shade Tree" cause they rent stalls and lift use to "shadetree mechanics"- people who work on their own cars). The cheapo battery terminal Ford makes from a cut-up soda can was corroded under the plastic cover (where it couldn't be seen). Most shops would have charged an hour labor and a new cable. David found the corrosion, cleaned and fixed it, told them it was going bad (and gave them the option to replace it) and sent them off. Cost: $0. Many shops would have either replaced _______ (insert electric component here) at a cost of $200 to $1000. They could have claimed bad battery, alternator, module, regulator, flux capacitor - you get the idea. A 90-year old man looks like a good income opportunity for some "mechanics". There have been several other "opportunities" for inflation, but they stay honest, and so I am happy to recommend them to anyone. The owner/chief mechanic David seems to be an automotive genius, and he's very friendly, patient and explains things even though he is going in 10 directions at once. Also they don't tack on unexpected charges to your bill like most shops. Good job David!
I took my car into the shop because the check engine light was on. After a quick repair of spark plugs and the cleaning of my EGR tube, and paying nearly $500, I was out the door. Everything seemed fine, but the light came on again after picking my daughter up from school. I called right away, and took the car back in on Monday for them to clean the tube again. A day later, I was driving to get my emissions tested, and the pesky light came on again, so, again I returned the car. They told me that aside from taking my engine apart piece by piece, there was nothing more they could do. My check engine light is STILL on, and of course they cashed my $500 check. I won't be returning.
